<description>Great post - managing is such a balancing act. As a faculty member in a college I face the challenge of being managed not only by academic dean but also our president who happens to be fairly hands off. Our academic dean is generally hands off as well but occasionally hands in which results in a lot of tension in the past. We are struggling right now though as our president is in our opinion not in touch with what we actually do. We long to have his vision, his style &amp; philosophy of leadership to be better communicated to us. Where are we going and how do we get there?
