Organization effectiveness is the new six sigma, the new lean manufacturing, or the new balanced scorecard (pick one). We're all starting to learn that no process can replace engaged people. And doesn't that just sound totally obvious when you say...

Garth, many thanks for your prayer. I can't help feeling that there is a higher purpose in the adventure that we're about to undertake.

Hey Chris, great to hear from you again and posting at exploreplay. I'm happy to hear you are still dreaming and willing to take risks - isn't that what exploring play is all about? Aiming high is always better than shooting too low and hitting the ground. Texas eh? Start practicing that slow southern drawl and walk like you've ridden a horse recently ;) I hear it is a beautiful state - my prayer for you is that God will continue to sustain your passion for life & liberty! Breathe on!

Phil, you're absolutely right...there are times when safety is an essential experience. There are times when we long for the safety of being in someone's arms, knowing that things will be okay. But staying there, clinging to that feeling of safety only leads to an unsatisfying cold comfort. Safety can be an illusion and a dulling force. There comes a time when we need to seek the adventure and risk of moving away from safety when it lulls us back with its Siren Song...we are hypnotized and don't see the dooming rocks ahead.

Beautiful article, and so much to think about Chris. If we don't take the time to dream BIG dreams, what are we left with? Playing it safe isn't an option, because what's safe today won't be safe tomorrow. In fact, it may not BE anything tomorrow.
