Hi Alexandra, always appreciate your visits and comments. You hit my hotword with "culture." As an anthropologist, I'm always fascinated by how cultures manifest themselves within organizations. But at the core, you're 100% right. If direct management isn't in alignment with the right corporate and organizational cultures, you have a recipe for employee disillusionment.

Hi Chris,

I think these are all important - but especially the fourth one. A positive workplace culture MUST be exhibited at the level of the individual supervisor. If its not, HR won't be able to do anything to stop employee turnover. I enjoy Galinski's work - thanks for sharing it.

Best,

Alexandra Levit
WSJ Columnist
Author, New Job, New You: A Guide to Reinventing Yourself in a Bright New Career (Random House/Ballantine, 2009)
http://www.alexandralevit.com
